SCAORA Strongly Condemns BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's Remarks Against Chief Justice of India

The Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) has passed a strong resolution condemning the recent comments made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey against the Chief Justice of India (CJI). Mr. Dubey had reportedly stated that the Chief Justice was "responsible for all civil wars in the country."

“Such remarks are not only factually baseless and deeply irresponsible, but they also amount to a direct and unwarranted attack on the independence, dignity, and majesty of our country's highest Constitutional Court,” stated the SCAORA resolution.

SCAORA called the comments defamatory and a deliberate attempt to lower the credibility and authority of the judiciary. The Association emphasized that these kinds of statements harm public trust in the rule of law.

“The use of scandalous, derogatory, and inflammatory language against the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India and the institution of the Supreme Court, particularly for personal or political mileage, is wholly uncalled for, sets a dangerous precedent, and undermines the faith of the common citizen in the rule of law,” it added.

Mr. Nikhil Jain, Honorary Secretary of SCAORA, reiterated that the independence of the judiciary is a core part of the Constitution. He warned that reckless statements like this pose a threat to democratic values.

“It is a fundamental tenet of our democracy that the judiciary remains independent and is respected as one of the key pillars of the Constitution,” he stated.
“While individuals may have disagreements with particular judgments or orders of the courts, the expression of such disagreements must remain within the bounds of dignity, constitutional decorum, and legal propriety.”

SCAORA urged public figures to be more responsible in their statements, especially when speaking about the judiciary. The Association appealed to all elected representatives to uphold constitutional values and maintain respect for judicial institutions.

“We also stand in solidarity with the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India and the institution of the Supreme Court in the face of such irresponsible and damaging rhetoric,” the resolution concluded.

The resolution was supported by SCAORA President Mr. Vipin Nair, Honorary Secretary Mr. Nikhil Jain, Joint Treasurer Mr. Vishal Prasad, and Executive Members Ms. Reena Pandey, Dr. Meenakshi Kalra, Ms. Astha Sharma, Mr. Aditya Giri, and Mr. A. Selvin Raja.
