Three Kerala High Court Judges Narrowly Escape Pahalgam Terror Attack

On 22nd April, a tragic terror attack struck the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of at least 25 tourists and injuries to several others. Amidst the chaos, three Kerala High Court judges—Justice Anil K. Narendran, Justice G. Girish, and Justice P. G. Ajithkumar—had a narrow escape.

As reported by The Hindu, the judges were on vacation with their families in Jammu and Kashmir. They had arrived in Pahalgam on 21st April and stayed overnight. Fortunately, they left the area on the morning of 22nd April and were already in Srinagar when the terror attack occurred later that day.

“The judges and their families had reached Srinagar when the attacks took place in Pahalgam,” reported The Hindu.

According to early reports, suspected terrorist groups opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam around noon on April 22. The sudden assault resulted in multiple casualties and injuries, shaking the tourist-friendly region.

"At least 25 tourists are dead and many others injured," as per initial news reports on the ground.

The escape of the Kerala High Court judges has highlighted both the seriousness of the security situation in certain regions and the close call experienced by several innocent civilians and officials. The judicial community and citizens alike have expressed relief over their safety.
